Cool Tool : RVTools version 3.8 is now available for download

Thanks to Rob de Veij (@rvtools) for developing RVTools and sharing with the community for free of cost. This tool does a great job of fetching loads of information from the Virtual Infrastructure and saves lot of time for the VI administrator, otherwise we need to run multiple script to fetch similar data.

RVTools is a windows .NET 2.0 application which uses the VI SDK to display information about your virtual machines and ESX hosts. Interacting with virtual center. RVTools is able to list information about VMs, CPU, Memory, Disks, Partitions, Network, Floppy drives, CD drives, Snapshots, VMware tools, Resource pools, Clusters, ESX hosts, HBAs, Nics, Switches, Ports, Distributed Switches, Distributed Ports, Service consoles, VM Kernels, Datastores, Multipath info and health checks. With RVTools you can disconnect the cd-rom or floppy drives from the virtual machines and RVTools is able to update the VMware Tools installed inside each virtual machine to the latest version.

Offline blogging software – BlogDesk

Summary : It can be overwhelming to maintain a blog and update it regular even with one blog, it become tedious with multiple blogs. Installing BlogDesk is super easy and you can find the step here, the latest version as of today is “BlogDesk 2.8”. BlogDesk is a Windows only software supports the following operating system Windows 98, NT, 2000, ME, XP, Vista and 7.

Weblog Systems supported by BlogDesk?
BlogDesk can access all systems and hoster that support the MetaweblogAPI or MovableType interface. These are e.g. WordPress, ExpressionEngine, MovableType, Drupal, Serendipity, dasBlog and Blojsom as well as the hoster Blogg.de, Myblog and Twoday.net. There are lot of options available in BlogDesk, download and install this fantastic software and it would make your blogging experience easy. I have been using it since Jan 2015 and only now had time to blog about this software. An alternative to BlogDesk would be Microsoft’s LiveWriter.

Cool Tool – RVTools version 3.6 now available for download

I wasn’t aware of the 3.6 release and I had updated my RVTools from 3.4 to 3.5. It was just been few days and realizes that 3.6 version has been released. Great work by the Author and full credit for developing such a simple tools which fetches all complex details about our virtualization estate. It’s a must have tool for all VI Admins.
